How long does it take to produce a yearbook?

Typically it takes around 3 months to design a yearbook and 6 weeks to print the book. We recommend that the book is designed in the first or second term of the academic year and the printing is completed in the summer term.

What is the smallest order size?

The smallest order quantity for buckram hardback and paperback is 30 books. The smallest order quantity for leather-effect hardback books is 60.

What is the minimum book thickness?

The leather-effect hardback yearbook has a fixed size of 40 pages (sides). The smallest size for buckram and paperback yearbooks is 50 pages (sides).

What size is the title on the front of my leather-effect book?

The title can be up to 3 lines, with the maximum number of characters per line being 20. The printed typeface will be Arial bold 34 pts.

If I use the print only service, how long does it take to produce my yearbook?

The time to print your yearbook is 6 weeks which involves sending you a paper copy proof and approval form. If you order outside our busy period (May – August) then you can expect to receive your yearbook within 4 weeks.

What kind of files can I upload?

You can upload photographs in .JPG and .PNG formats.

Which software do you recommend?

Our list of compatible software includes:

  • Microsoft Word (Version 2010 or earlier,)
  • Microsoft Publisher (Version 2010 or earlier),
  • Microsoft Powerpoint (Version 2010 or earlier),
  • Adobe Indesign,
  • Adobe PDF,

Do I get a Paper based Proof?

A paper based proof will be sent to you and approval must be received before printing commences. The books are dispatched 4 weeks after the approval date.

How can I reduce the cost of my yearbook?

You may consider including paid adverts within your yearbook. Get the advertiser to supply their advert and you could add extra pages to the back of the yearbook. Alternatively you could hold some organized event at school and the proceeds could be used to subsidize the yearbook. Popular events include car washing and ‘bring and buy’ sales.

Are there any legal considerations when using photographs of young people?

Schools are obliged to give parents the option to opt out of having their child’s image used in a published book.
